Butcher block or live edge

Butcher block tops are 1.5″ thick with a uniform, even look that suits most dining rooms. Live edge tops are 2″ thick planks that keep the natural edge of the tree for a more rustic, one-of-a-kind table.

Species and finishes

Sizes

Most come in sizes from 24″ x 24″ up to 30″ x 96″ or 36″ x 96″ for communal tables, and many offer rounds. The Glenwood and Hearthstone also list custom sizes by quote.

Care

The commercial-grade PU coating resists everyday spills, but wipe liquids promptly and do not leave wet cloths on the surface. Solid wood tops are not recommended for outdoor use; for patios, see outdoor table tops.

Bases and pricing

Tops are sold separately; pair them with table bases using our table base sizing guide. Pricing drops at 10, 20 and 50 tops.

Choosing a look

For a consistent dining room, butcher block gives every table the same even grain. Live edge works best where tables are a focal point, such as a chef's counter or communal table, since each top's edge varies.
