Laminate or solid wood

Laminate is the practical pick for high-turnover rooms: the Metro 2″ laminate top and Uptown 1.5″ laminate top come in wood grain and solid finishes and wipe clean fast. Solid wood adds warmth and character; the Meadowbrook White Oak Butcher Block Table Top gives an even, classic look, while the Canyon Walnut Live Edge Table Top keeps the natural tree edge. Compare all options in laminate & hpl table tops and solid wood table tops.

Why indoor only

Standard laminate, butcher block and live edge tops are not recommended for outdoor use. If a table might go on a patio, choose from outdoor table tops instead.

Choosing sizes

Plan on about 24″ of table edge per seat: 24″ x 30″ for a café two-top, 30″ x 48″ for four, and 30″ x 72″ or longer for groups. Several wood tops go to 30″ x 96″ and 36″ x 96″ for communal tables.

Bases and pricing

Tops are sold separately; see indoor table bases and our table base sizing guide. Pricing drops at 10, 20 and 50 tops.

Matching the room

Laminate wood grain finishes such as Oak and Walnut can sit alongside beechwood chairs stained in similar tones. Solid walnut and white oak tops pair well with walnut and natural finishes on our wood frame chairs. Keeping a consistent tone across tops and seating makes a room look planned rather than assembled.

Thickness and edges

Laminate tops come in 1.5″ or 2″ thickness, butcher block tops are 1.5″, and live edge tops are 2″. Thicker tops look more substantial on larger tables.

Frequently asked questions

Why are these tops indoor only?

Standard laminate, butcher block and live edge tops are not recommended for outdoor use. For patios, choose quartz, granite, sintered stone, HPL or aluminum-frame tops.

What finish do the solid wood tops have?

Our solid wood tops have a commercial-grade PU coating that helps resist everyday spills in a restaurant setting. Wipe liquids promptly to keep the finish looking its best.
