Why beechwood

European beechwood is dense and tight-grained, so it takes stain evenly and holds up to daily use in a commercial dining room. Most of our beechwood bistro chairs use mortise-and-tenon joinery, and every chair is tested to 400 lbs and built to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards. Wood frames are made for indoor, conditioned spaces; for patios, look at aluminum frame chairs or poly-molded chairs instead.

Stained to order or pre-stained

Many models, such as the Carver Side Chair and Garnet Side Chair, are stained to order in your choice of finish and ship in 2–3 weeks. Stained-to-order pieces can't be cancelled or returned, so order a finish you have seen or confirmed. If you need chairs sooner, pick a model offered in a stocked finish: the Orchard Side Chair in walnut and the Timber Side Chair in dark walnut are pre-stained and typically ship in 2–3 days. Each product page shows which finishes are stocked.

Wood seat or upholstered seat

A wood seat is the easiest to wipe clean and suits casual, high-turnover rooms. An upholstered seat adds comfort for longer meals. Several chairs, including the Blakely Side Chair, are offered both ways, and you can mix seat types of the same model within the 4-piece minimum. Note that seat height changes slightly with the seat choice; the Blakely lists 18.25″ with a wood seat and 19″ upholstered. Browse upholstered chairs to see padded-back designs.

Matching bar stools

Many of these chairs have a matching stool in wood frame bar stools, so the bar and dining room can share one design and finish. Order both in the same stain for a consistent look.

Care

Wipe frames with a damp cloth and dry them; avoid soaking joints or using harsh solvents. Frames carry a 3-year structural warranty and finishes and upholstery a 1-year warranty from the ship date.

Pricing

The minimum is 4 chairs per model. Per-chair pricing drops at 6, 20, 60 and 100 pieces, and 100+ chairs can request a volume quote.

Frequently asked questions

Can wood restaurant chairs be used outdoors?

No. Wood-frame seating is made for indoor, conditioned spaces. For patios and rooftops, choose aluminum frame or poly-molded chairs, which are UV-resistant and suited to year-round outdoor use.

What does stained to order mean?

The frame is stained in the finish you choose after you order, and ships in 2–3 weeks. Stained-to-order pieces can't be cancelled or returned. Models in a pre-stained, stocked finish typically ship in 2–3 days, or about 1 week where noted.

Can I mix wood seats and upholstered seats?

Yes. On models offered with both seat types, you can mix seats and finishes of the same chair to reach the 4-piece minimum per item.

How are the beechwood chairs built?

The frames are solid European beechwood, and most use mortise-and-tenon joinery. Every chair is tested to 400 lbs, built to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and ships fully assembled.
