Pick the material for the room
The top takes more wear than any other part of the table: plates, glassware, hot dishes and constant wiping. Each material handles that differently.
- Stone. stone table tops in quartz, granite and sintered stone have a 1-1/4″ edge over a plywood sub top with epoxy and fiberglass backing, and are rated for indoor and outdoor use.
- Solid wood. solid wood table tops include 1.5″ butcher block and 2″ live edge planks in white oak, walnut, beech, ash and pine, with a commercial-grade PU coating. Indoor only.
- Laminate and HPL. laminate & hpl table tops are a durable, easy-clean choice for busy dining rooms. Standard laminate is indoor only; HPL tops such as the Terrace HPL Table Top are rated for outdoor use.
- Aluminum. aluminum table tops are lightweight, outdoor-rated tops for patios and rooftops.
Indoor vs. outdoor tops
Quartz, granite, sintered stone, HPL and aluminum-frame tops are rated for indoor and outdoor use. Wood butcher block, live edge and standard laminate tops are indoor only. If a table will ever sit on a patio, even seasonally, choose from outdoor table tops.
Choosing sizes and seat counts
Plan on about 24″ of table edge per seat. A 24″ x 24″ or 24″ x 30″ top suits a café two-top, 30″ x 30″ is a comfortable two-top for full meals, and 30″ x 48″ seats four. Stone tops come in sizes up to 30″ x 72″, and quartz and granite also come in rounds up to 54″. Round tops, such as the 30″ round on the Lido Faux Wood Aluminum Table Top, suit small patios and tight corners. Some butcher block tops also list custom sizes by quote.
Matching tops to bases
Tops are sold separately from bases. Each of our table bases lists the largest top it supports by size, so choose the top first, then pick a base footprint rated for it. Our table base sizing guide explains how base spread relates to top size and when to use two bases under one top.
Thickness and edge profile
Thickness changes how substantial a table looks. The Uptown laminate top is 1.5″ thick, the Metro laminate top is 2″, butcher block tops are 1.5″ and live edge tops are 2″. Quartz and sintered stone tops have a 1-1/4″ eased edge, and the granite top has a bullnose edge.
Cleaning and care
Laminate, HPL, quartz and sintered stone wipe clean with a mild cleaner. Solid wood tops have a commercial-grade PU coating that resists spills, but wipe liquids promptly and avoid soaking the surface. Standard laminate and wood tops should stay indoors.

Laminate, HPL, aluminum and solid wood tops ship in 1–2 weeks from order and payment; quartz, granite and sintered stone ship in 2–3 weeks. There is no minimum order. Pricing tiers step down at 10, 20 and 50 tops, and 50 or more tops qualify for a volume quote. We ship to the U.S. and Canada with live freight rates at checkout.
